Renewable Energy BESS

Off-grid renewable energy applications (Solar, Wind) requires battery energy storage and may incorporate an alternate source of power such as fossil fuel gensets to augment the power required during blackout time periods. Adding sufficient energy storage to accommodate the applications' operating loads during blackout periods ( i.e. Required # hrs/days of back-up power) will dramatically reduce the use of gensets.

Renewable Energy Storage

Converting the green energy of the sun using solar panels or wind turbines into usable DC energy is environmentally responsible as it reduces the overall carbon footprint. In order to use this energy during blackout periods, an energy storage solution is required. Ideally, it must be capable of being charged (store energy) and discharged many thousand times over its lifetime without losing its ability to store energy.

Unlike other battery technologies which cannot be fully discharged, Vortex ESS graphene supercapacitor batteries are able to discharge 100% of its stored capacity without damage to the module. It also provides up to 20,000+ charge/discharge cycles which equates to a lifespan of 25+ years, yielding the lowest LCOE (Life Cost Of Energy) versus any comparable battery energy storage solution.

Vortex ESS Solutions

Vortex ESS Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) are available in two flavors to incrementally provide the number of hours/days of storage required.

  • Rack Solution based on the voltage of the PV array and charger
  • Containerized solutions of up to 2.6MWh per container

Key Product Features

  • 100% deep discharge means less units for total energy storage
  • Wide operating temperature range (-20 to +55 deg C) means energy savings for environmental conditioning of cabinets
  • Safest battery materials/electrostatic design means no safety concern for spontaneous combustion - fire protection system optional
